resurrection
August 7, 2009the stuff of earth is back. When I posted my last post on my old blog, I never would have guessed it would be eleven months until I blogged again.
A lot happens in eleven months.
I have moved from:
- academia to pastoral ministry;
- a small town to the big city;
- Blogger to WordPress.
But the blog is back. And it’s not under a different name; I still like “the stuff of earth” for all the reasons I liked it the first time. Nor have the basic intent and content changed: the blog will still be “a little bit of my life and thoughts, every now and then,” a collection of my reflections on the stuff of earth.
Readers of my old blog (is there anybody out there?) may see some more specific changes to the content here, however. There will be less personal and family stuff here – that has migrated over to the land of Facebook – and most of my substantive posts will revolve around my preaching and teaching rather than my research and writing.
Discontinuity yet continuity. Continuity yet discontinuity. Sounds like a good resurrection to me.
But there’s still the nagging question of immortality…
Great to have you back, Michael! Looking forward to reading your new posts.

Reading along! (Reading ‘Discerning the ‘Word of the Lord’ at the mo’ as well).
Barth refers to immortality as “eternalization.” Whatever that means. Maybe we’ll read your blog in the New Jerusalem?
Hi pastor Pahl (weird for me to say because I have known you as professor Pahl for a long time.) I have been wondering about you. It is good to know that you are doing well. I follow your blog and look forward to your continued writings. I am also going to get my hands on your book.
Take care,
Blessings!
